Set Yourself Up To Receive
By Pastor Anita Norris

Exodus 33:18-19 says when Moses asked God to show him His glory, God showed him His goodness. It's interesting to note, however, that God could show Moses His goodness only to the extent that Moses could receive it.

As it was with Moses, you too can limit the manifestation of God's goodness in your life because He can only show you His goodness according to your capacity to receive it. And since God's glory is about to show up in a more powerful way in these last days, than ever before, you don't want to miss it.

To become a good receiver, it's essential for you to know that God is good. The Old Testament says before the glory of God would manifest, the people would always have to pro- claim: "For He is good and His mercy endures forever."

In the Bible, goodness is frequently attributed to God. For instance, Psalm 31:19 says, "Oh, how great is Your goodness, which You have laid up for those who fear You, which You have prepared for those who trust in You in the presence of the sons of men!" God has treasures prepared and laid up for you, but if you don't trust Him and if you don't know that He is good, you're limiting His ability to show you that goodness.

The Jews understand God's goodness with such clarity because this has been passed from generation to generation. Unfortunately through Christianity, a poverty syndrome has been passed to us. And that poverty syndrome has robbed Christians of the knowledge of God's goodness. Consequently, the capacity to receive has significantly diminished. So, how can the capacity to receive be increased? It's only through the Word of God. We must settle within our heart that God is good and He has treasures that He's trying to get to us. Then, when we continually see Him as good, we'll know His treasures are waiting to be given to those who love Him.

I Corinthians 2:9 says, "What eye has not seen and ear has not heard and has not entered into the heart of man, all that God has prepared (made and keeps ready) for those who love Him." (Amplified Bible). The Bible specifically defines those who love Him as those who will hear and obey His Word (John 14:15).

Knowing God this way will increase your capacity to receive. You'll have faith in Him and you will trust Him. The only way we receive from God is by the law of God, which is the law of faith. According to our faith it will be unto us (Matthew 9:29). Our faith is our capacity to receive. Good receivers simply have more faith to receive because they have more understanding of the goodness of God.

God has a storehouse full of treasures with your name on it! He wants to do you good. Don't let wrong teaching and wrong thinking rob you of that. Set yourself up to receive the soon-coming explosion of God's glory. The Hebrew meaning of the word glory is "heavy with everything good."
