The Blood
By Pastor Pete Norris

We must be willing to believe in the sacrifice that has already been made.  We cannot believe this except by faith. The key to the door that opens up everything from God is faith.

II Corinthians 4:13 -- "We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak;"

We must be willing to speak the Word in prayer. We can only apply the blood to our children everyday by faith. We believe and, therefore, we speak. We are dying because we are not believing and, therefore, not speaking.

Prayer is omnipotent just as God is omnipotent. If we cannot speak it and pray it, it is because we do not have the faith to believe it. Some of us are believing God for something but we cannot focus on it because our circumstances direct us away from it. God's Word is truth, but if we do not really believe the truth, it will not happen in our lives. Only the Word we believe in faith will manifest.

There is power in the blood by faith.

Exodus 12:13 -- "And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are; and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt."

A token is a sign or evidence. Does God see the blood when He looks at us? The key is obeying God's Word in prayer.

Exodus 12:7 -- "And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it."

When the blood was applied to the doorpost, the death angel passed over. This blood was of lambs. The sprinkling of blood did nothing. It was the obedience that made it work. The lamb's blood was a foreshadow of the blood of Jesus. We do not have to make sacrifices any more because Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice. The blood of Jesus is to no avail unless we operate in it. The blood has no power without our faith. Have you applied the blood in faith to your homes and your children?

John 6:63 -- "It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing; the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life."

We could not be saved without the blood and without our believing. If we really believe, therefore, we will speak.

Exodus 12:24-25 -- "And ye shall observe this thing for an ordinance to thee and to thy sons for ever."

Things have not changed. We are to observe forever that the blood has power.

Exodus 12:25 -- "And it shall come to pass, when ye be come to the land which the Lord will give you, according as he hath promised, that ye shall keep this service."

When they got to the promised land, God still wanted them to observe that the blood still had power. It is not referring to when they got to heaven. What we practice now is going to operate in it's fullness in heaven.

Leviticus 14:2-6 -- "This shall be the law of the leper in the day of his cleansing; He shall be brought unto the priest; And the priest shall go forth out of the camp; and the priest shall look, and, behold, if the plague of leprosy be healed in the leper; Then shall the priest command to take for him that is to be cleansed two birds alive and clean, and cedar wood, and scarlet, and hyssop; And the priest shall command that one of the birds be killed in an earthen vessel over running water; As for the living bird, he shall take it, and the cedar wood, and the scarlet, and the hyssop, and shall dip them and the living bird in the blood of the bird that was killed over the running water."

In verse 3 "going forth out of the camp" is symbolic of Jesus being taken outside the walls of Jerusalem to be crucified. "Two birds alive" is symbolic of the death and resurrection and of the two deaths that Jesus had to die. He had to die physically and spiritually. Cedar wood is symbolic of the cross and scarlet of the suffering Savior. Hyssop is a fragrant plant and it symbolizes faith. The hyssop was dipped in blood and was their point of contact for touching the doorposts. All of these were symbolic of Jesus and was leading to the cross.

The blood that was drained out of the bird went into the basin and was mixed with water. When Jesus was on the cross, His side was pierced and blood and water came out. The earthen vessel was Jesus, in the flesh, hanging on the cross. The bird had to die so the blood could be taken. The live bird was then dipped into the blood and water which is symbolic of cleansing by the Word. The bird was then let go which symbolized the resurrection of Jesus. The blood in the vessel was sprinkled on the person with leprosy seven times. The priest would then pronounce that the leper was clean. Then the leper could come into the camp. When our sins have been cleansed, we can come into the kingdom.

Read Leviticus Chapter 12

Under the law, when a woman had a male baby, she was unclean for 7 days but had to abstain because of the blood loss for 33 days. When she had a female baby, she was unclean for 14 days and had to abstain for 66 days. This was to give the blood time to build back up. After the 7th day, the male baby had to be circumcised. When a baby is circumcised, he loses blood. The people believed everyone must shed blood. A woman loses blood during her menstrual period. A man loses his blood at circumcision.

Man releases his blood after circumcision through sperm which produces life. The woman is the vessel in which life comes forth from but man gives the life.

When we get saved, the blood of Jesus comes into us by faith. What the blood does is the key to the fullness of God. If we get away from the blood, we do not have any power any more. We are the vessels that the blood of God is flowing through. It will flow as much as we are willing to believe.

When Adam and Eve were in the Garden, they were like God. They did not have sinful natures. When Adam was created, it was God's blood. God took a rib out of Adam and formed Eve. The blood flowing through Adam also flowed through Eve. When sin entered, their blood became impure. God's revelation of the blood is of much greater dimension than the church has been taught. Satan does not want us to know how powerful the blood is.

Exodus 12:22 "And ye shall take a bunch of hyssop, and dip it in the blood that is in the basin, and strike the lintel and the two side posts with the blood that is in the basin; and none of you shall go out at the door of his house until the morning."

None of them were to leave their houses because they were protected by the blood. If they were outside their doors, the death angel would get them because they were disobedient. God cannot protect us from disobedience. We are disobedient when we do not take the time to apply the blood to our families and homes.

Until the church understands the purpose of the blood of Jesus Christ, we will walk defeated lives. The truth about the blood will be revealed to the end-time church. We are going to a place where no one has ever walked. We must purge ourselves and walk by faith.

Leviticus 14:7-8 "And he shall sprinkle upon him that is to be cleansed from the leprosy seven times, and shall pronounce him clean, and shall let the living bird loose into the open field. And he that is to be cleansed shall wash his clothes, and shave off all his hair, and wash himself in water, that he may be clean; and after that he shall come into the camp, and shall tarry abroad out of his tent seven days."

Why did they sprinkle the person with leprosy 7 times? It was because Jesus shed His blood 7 different places from His body.

First, He shed blood in His sweat.

Luke 22:44 -- "And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly; and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground."

Second, He shed blood on His face.

Isaiah 50:6 -- "I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair; I hid not my face from shame and spitting."

Third, He shed blood on His back.

Matthew 27:26 -- "Then released he Barabbas unto them; and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified."

Fourth, He shed blood on His head.

Matthew 27:29-30 -- "And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head..."

Fifth and sixth, He shed blood from His hands and His feet. Psalm 22:16 -- "For dogs have compassed me; the assembly of the wicked have enclosed me; they pierced my hands and my feet."

Seventh, He shed blood from His side.

John 19:34 -- "But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water."

Jesus was our substitute. He paid the ultimate price with His blood. Satan cannot come near the blood. His blood also delivered us from bondages. Jesus took the blood and placed it on the mercy seat. He then sent the Holy Spirit to teach us about it.
